Camp Lucy has become one of the most recognizable wedding venues in the Texas Hill Country, and for good reason. Just outside Austin in Dripping Springs, the property offers a rare combination of historic architecture, mature oak trees, thoughtfully designed event spaces, and the convenience of hosting an entire wedding weekend in one location.

For couples planning a wedding at Camp Lucy, photography is about more than documenting a beautiful venue. It's about preserving the people, relationships, and moments that made the day meaningful. Caroline Robert approaches every wedding with a documentary mindset, quietly observing the moments that can't be recreated while providing thoughtful guidance when it's time for portraits.

The result is a collection of photographs that reflects both the experience of the day and the character of the venue—images that feel natural, timeless, and unmistakably personal.

Why Get Married at Camp Lucy?

Camp Lucy offers something many wedding venues don't: flexibility without sacrificing character. Whether you're planning an intimate celebration or a full wedding weekend, the property allows guests to stay onsite while hosting everything from the welcome party to the farewell brunch in one place.

Each event space has its own personality, giving couples the opportunity to choose a setting that feels like the right fit rather than adapting their wedding to a single ballroom or lawn. Historic buildings, expansive oak trees, open Hill Country views, and carefully maintained grounds create a venue that photographs beautifully in every season.

From a photographer's perspective, Camp Lucy works especially well because the property offers a variety of portrait locations within a short walk of one another. That means less time traveling between locations and more time spent with family and friends.

It feels elevated without feeling formal. Luxurious without feeling intimidating.

Long before it became one of Texas' most recognized wedding venues, Camp Lucy was a private family ranch in Dripping Springs. The property is named after Lucy Hanks, the mother of owner Whit Hanks, whose vision transformed the ranch into a destination unlike any other in the Texas Hill Country.

Much of Camp Lucy's character comes from its collection of restored historic buildings gathered from around the world. One of its most recognizable landmarks, Ian's Chapel, began as a 19th-century Catholic church in Vietnam. Rather than allowing the structure to be demolished, it was carefully dismantled, transported to Texas, and meticulously rebuilt on the property using its original craftsmanship.

Over the years, the property has continued to grow with additional historic structures, luxury accommodations, gardens, and event spaces, while maintaining the sense of history that makes it feel unlike a traditional wedding venue. Today, the 282-acre resort is known for hosting everything from intimate celebrations to full wedding weekends, offering couples a setting that blends Texas Hill Country landscapes with architecture and craftsmanship from around the world.
