Luxury Wedding Photography at Austin's Most Iconic Estate

Caroline Robert is an Austin wedding photographer whose work blends documentary storytelling with an editorial eye. After photographing more than 500 weddings over the last 18 years, she has developed a deep appreciation for venues that are as timeless as the moments they host. Commodore Perry Estate is one of those places.

There are a lot of beautiful wedding venues in Austin. Commodore Perry Estate is one of the few that feels special.

Originally built in the 1920s as the private home of Edgar and Lutie Perry, the estate has become one of Austin's most iconic properties. Today, it operates as a luxury hotel and event venue, but it still retains much of the intimacy and character that made it special in the first place.

Tucked away in the middle of the city, it somehow manages to feel like a European retreat while still being unmistakably Austin. Between the historic mansion, manicured gardens, and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces, it's easy to see why so many couples fall in love with it.

Why Couples Love Commodore Perry Estate

Part of what makes Commodore Perry Estate so special is its versatility.

The property can accommodate everything from intimate gatherings to full wedding weekends, while maintaining an atmosphere that feels private and exclusive. Whether you're hosting a garden ceremony, a tented reception, or a multi-day celebration with guests staying on-site, the venue provides an incredible backdrop without ever feeling overwhelming.

Many couples are drawn to the estate because it feels timeless rather than trendy. The design is elegant, the landscaping is intentional, and every space photographs beautifully throughout the day.

It feels elevated without feeling formal. Luxurious without feeling intimidating.

Guests can stay on property, wander the grounds throughout the weekend, and settle into the celebration rather than simply attending it.

As a photographer, that's one of my favorite things about the venue. People slow down here.

The architecture is beautiful, the gardens photograph wonderfully throughout the year, and the light is consistently good. But more importantly, the property creates space for people to connect. Guests linger over cocktails, families gather in quiet corners, and the entire day feels a little less rushed.

Of course, there are incredible places for portraits throughout the estate. The gardens are beautiful year-round, the architecture adds so much character, and sunset is especially lovely on the property. But some of my favorite images from Commodore Perry weddings aren't the portraits at all.

They're the in-between moments.

The estate provides an incredible backdrop, but the people are always the story.
